Learn about our Programs
Circle time, Stories, Songs & Indigenous Traditions
Every Wednesday we will be offering circle time, stories, songs and Indigenous traditions facilitated by our cultural program support workers. Based around the 13 moons this program will introduce families and children to Indigenous ways of being and knowing. Come listen to Indigenous stories like Why the Rabbit has Narrow Shoulders or How Nanabush Created the World, participate in activities and crafts, and sing along to songs like Binoojiinh Nagamwinan (Skip, Skip, Skip to my Lou); for Indigenous people’s culture is deeply rooted in identity, place, connection to one another and is essential to overall well-being.
Land Based Activities
Children Love the outdoors, they love the smells, and all the beauty nature has to offer. Children are experts at finding the worm in the dirt, or the caterpillar on a long piece of grass. Its called playful research and through their experiences with the outside elements they learn and discover their connection to the world around them. Here at out EarlyON we offer Land Based activities, encouraging the use of outside materials brought into our center for children to use their creative expressions by using things such as twigs and leaves to create a tree or just a simple design of what Nature looks like to them. We bring the outside in to create our environment to become the 3rd teacher and offer the experience of nature inside our playroom.
Science and discovery
Here at our EarlyON we encourage the experience of playing with science. Simple activities such as making jello and watching a liquid turn into a solid, erupting a volcano, magic experiments using colors or a snowstorm in a jar. Science promotes critical thinking as it involves asking questions and finding answerers encouraging their curiosity. It aids in the development of other skills and fosters a love of learning.
Infant Play Programs
Our EarlyON offers Infant programming, encouraging the interaction and play between parent or caregiver with infants. Play is very important in the early years for a child’s brain development. It can enhance brain development; it helps to develop language and communication and aids in the development of empathy and self regulation. We offer many different activities in sensory play, cognitive play and tummy time.
